Discover the Gironde and visit its many vineyards ( where one of-course can taste and buy wine ), chateaux, medieval towns, historic monuments, museums and beautiful gardens. A region of music and dance festivals, markets and brocantes.
An area for people who love peace with plenty of possibilities in the locality to play golf, cycle, go horse-riding or walking, fishing, canoeing and swimming.

Les Messauts lies directly at the bank of the "canal latéral", a canal with many bridges and locks that runs from the Mediterranean sea ( canal du Midi ) to near Bordeaux (canal latéral). {short description of image}
{short description of image} At 4 km. distance there is a harbour in the small town called Fontet where one can hire a boat or a canoe, swim and practice archery in summer. The village has a Match Museum and a 15th century Church that is worth a visit.
Also at 4 km. lies La Réole, a 1000 year old town on the right bank of the river Garonne. There is a signed walking-route to view the city, and one can take a boat-excursion on the river Places to visit include the ancient monestery and the 4 museums ( Automobile, Agriculture, Military, Railway ).
Each Saturday there is a market on the quay where you can buy all the regional products and 'people watch' from a sunny riverside café bar.

- canoeing on the rivers le Dropt, le Ciron, la Garonne and the Canal Latéral à la Garonne
- horse-riding for beginners and progressed
- several lakes to swim
- karting
- several attraction parks, zoos, aqua-parks within 45 minutes of distance.
Domaine Les Messauts lies on 80 minutes distance of Arcachon at the Atlantic Ocean.
A nice distance to make a day trip to the coast

- Mimizan
- Biscarosse
- Etang de Biscarosse

What you should not miss on the way back is an excursion to the splendid forests of Les Landes and a visit to the "Parc Naturel Régional des Landes de Gascogne"; with its fantastic Eco-museum.

Domaine "Les Messauts" is an ideal situation to visit many places in the Region, especially
out of Season when the temperatures are cooler.
For example: in Spring watch the work that is in process in the vineyards and in Autumn
watch the harvest under way or go and collect mushrooms and what do you think about
the idea of staying in France for Christmas.........?
